Dear Friends of The Fighting Fourth:
I was the long time webmaster for The Fighting Fourth Association. I was asked to take over the webmaster duties, which I volunteered for free, from Austin Geiling Jr., a longtime friend who was a local Marine who fought at Iwo Jima and other places in the South Pacific. He won a Purple Heart in fighting there. Sadly, he died in 2010 at the age of 86.
On August 7th, 2015, the Association held their Final Muster and became defunct. I urged them to allow me to keep “some” records of their members online for research purposes and that request was denied. I continually receive requests.
Those historical records i.e. of the membership, would go a long way in helping folks in locating those who fought. Sadly, those Marines are slowly dying away, more each day and then it will be too late. I would assume they wanted their privacy., but was never given an explanation.
At least they allowed me to take over the domain name and keep the website on my own. Because I am not in a position to pay for the costs of the domain and the hosting on my own, I ask for funds for the upkeep of this site.
